What is a RIVER????

What is a river?

A river is a natural waterway on the Earth's surface, which channels freshwater from the mountains to the sea.

Rivers begin as small trickles of water up in the mountains. This is its source, and it eventually forms a small stream which then flows down the mountain. The water erodes the land, carving a bigger channel and forms the main river.

Upstream areas are characterized by steep V-shaped valleys, waterfalls, and fast flowing water among boulders and rocks. In the middle part, the river winds its way slowly through the flatter land, and continues to widen its channel by meandering and depositing material that is too heavy to carry in the water. As it makes its way out to the sea, it flows even more slowly and starts to deposit even more material in and around its own channel. At its mouth, where the river meets the sea, there is a sudden drop in velocity, and all the material that was being carried in the water column is deposited right there. As the material builds up from continuous deposition, the mouth of the river gets blocked and the river has to find new outlets into the sea by carving new streams wherever it can. This is the formation process of a delta and is characteristic of all river mouth areas.

Water Conservation

Hi everybody.Today,we will like to share with all of you about conservation of water.This matter is an interesting matter.Hope all of you can give a good attention.

Dear listeners,

Water is essential to life on earth. We need water to grow food, keep clean, provide power, control fire, and last but not least, we need it to stay alive! Water has become the most used resources we have in this world and we believe that at one point we won't have it anymore. For this very important reason we believe that all of us should conserve water .

Saving water is good for the earth, your family, and your community. When you use water wisely, you help the environment. You save water for fish and animals. You help preserve drinking water supplies. And you ease the burden on wastewater treatment plants—the less water you send down the drain, the less work these plants have to do to make water clean again.

When you use water wisely, you save energy. You save the energy that your water supplier uses to treat and move water to you, and the energy your family uses to heat your water. When you use water wisely, you save money. Your family pays for the water you use. If you use less water, you’ll have more money left to spend on other things. Using water wisely means conserving it when you can, and not wasting it.

Now,let me tell you ways to conserve water in our home.Some of the ways are, install water-saving shower heads and low-flow faucet aerators,use your water meter to check for hidden water leaks ,check your toilets for leaks,don't use the toilet as an ashtray or wastebasket,check faucets and pipes for leaks,put plastic bottles or float booster in your toilet tank,take shorter showers,insulate your water pipes,turn off the water after you wet your toothbrush,rinse your razor in the sink,use your dishwasher and clothes washer for only full loads minimize use of kitchen sink garbage disposal units,when washing dishes by hand, don't leave the water running for rinsing,don't let the faucet run while you clean vegetables and keep a bottle of drinking water in the fridge.

We were sure that a lot of you have yard and garden at home.So,we will like to share with you about water conservation in the yard and garden. They are plant drought-resistant lawns, shrubs and plants ,put a layer of mulch around trees and plants, don't water the gutter,water your lawn only when it needs it,deep-soak your lawn,water during the early parts of the day; avoid watering when it's windy,add organic matter and use efficient watering systems for shrubs, flower beds and lawns, don't run the hose while washing your car and use a broom, not a hose, to clean driveways and sidewalks.
